Shining A Light on Depression & Anxiety in Schools

Written by kznscience on . Posted in News Press Releases

The KZN Science Centre has once again partnered with the provincial education department in an effort to address the issues of depression and anxiety in our schools. By working with fellow non-profit, the South African Depression and Anxiety Group, the KZNSC has managed the implementation of specialised training for 60 department officials in the coping mechanism associated with depression in youth. The training is aimed at providing officials with the professional capacity and toolkit to effectively identify, address and mitigate cases of depression and anxiety in schools. The KZNSC is excited to be shining a light on such issues that afflict the educational growth and development of learners in schools across the province. We look forward to the continued partnership with the Special Needs Education Services (SNES) Directorate toward upskilling and empowering our learners.
