The KZN Science Centre has once again gone beyond the call of duty in providing essential and practical science education to the children of Kwa-Zulu Natal. In proud association with the eThekwini Community Foundation, The Siemens Stiftung and The Red Cap Foundation, The KZN Science Centre was host to the Siemens Stiftung Experimento Science Kit: Multiplier and Educator Training Workshops.

The Siemens Stiftung has generously provided, through kind assistance by the eThekwini Community Foundation, a series of well-equipped science kits, designed by a panel of leading scientists, to various well deserving schools in KZN. These kits have been endorsed by the relevant governmental departments and contain interactive and user friendly material relating to human health, the environment and energy concepts.

KZN Science Centre Education Officers were trained by the Siemens Stiftung scientists to serve as “Multipliers” of this great initiative. These Multipliers in turn, will host several educator training workshops based on the Experimento kits to ensure that the content thereof is fully understood and easily implemented within the classroom.

The KZN Science Centre was honoured to welcome Councillor Logie Naidoo, Speaker of the eThekwini Municipality to officially handover the Experimento Kits to The KZN Science Centre as well as schools taking part in this initiative. Councillor Naidoo expressed great enthusiasm about the kits and congratulated all stakeholders involved in making this plan a reality.

Chief Executive Officer of The KZN Science Centre, Mrs Candice Potgieter was excited about this major collaboration and the wonderful impact it will have on the youth of KZN. Potgieter stated: “We are humbled to have been chosen to serve as Multipliers and overall distributors of these fantastic kits. We strongly believe that these kits will ultimately hold the key to improving pass rates in Mathematics and Science related subjects in KZN.”
